In August 2016 Asus had launched the ZenFone 3 series smartphones and the Asus ZenFone 3 Max was a part of that. ZenFone is the brand name for all the smartphones from the Asus’s stable and the word ‘Max’ denotes the huge or ‘MAXimum’ battery capacity of the Max series phones. The Max 3 is priced at Rs 17,999 for the 5.5 inch variant.
The ZenFone 3 Max looks a lot like an Asus smartphone as it follows the same design principles. It is a very stylish smartphone with a slim aluminum unibody design that gets an extra edge thanks to the 2.5D glass panel up front. The review unit we had sported a grey matte feel metal finish, which made it look very premium. It comes with a fingerprint scanner in the rear panel. The phone does not feel heavy despite it carrying a giant 4,100 mAh battery.
Box and Contents
Asus has played it safe with the package. A smooth classy white box, the packaging looks admirable at first glance. Cracking open the box, the packaging is very typical, we get the phone itself, a wall adapter (rated at 5V 2A), a microUSB cable and a USB OTG Cable.
The new Zenfone 3 Max approaches design along the lines of the Zenfone 3. It’s a radical design change from the last generation, and it reminds us very much of the Redmi Note 3 or Lenovo K5 Note, with a metal unibody
Display And Looks
The front is dominated by a 5.5 inch IPS LCD Display of 1080p resolution. It is flanked by the earpiece, sensors and front camera on one side, and by capacitive soft keys on the other side. The front of the device is Corning Gorilla Glass 4, while the rest of the phone is unibody aluminum. It feels much more premium than any older Zenfone models. There is a slightly brushed texture in the back panel, which looks neat and classy. The design in itself is very generic, but we must admit that this is a very well put together device.
The rear of the device holds a new 16MP Sony camera with laser autofocus, LED flash and a fingerprint sensor resting below it. The build quality is really good. Minimalism design and simplicity is what makes the stylish device. The metallic design with frame curved edges add to the beauty of the unit. There is a hybrid dual SIM slot, a mono speaker grill at the bottom edge.
ASUS Zenfone 3 Max Software
Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 with ZenUI 3.0 layered on top of it is the operating system of ASUS Zenfone 3 Max. ZenMotion touch and motion gestures add to the features of the gadget. There is a theme app that allows the user to change the entire look and feel of their device. AudioWizard, Do It Later, Laser Ruler, MiniMovie, PhotoCollage, Mobile Manager, Puffin, Share Link, ZenCircle and ZenTalk are some of the apps that ASUS offers straight out of the box.
ASUS Zenfone 3 Max Processor
ASUS Zenfone 3 Max is powered by Qualcomm MSM8937 Snapdragon 430 which is surely on the lower side when we talk about the pricing. Other than that, ASUS Zenfone 3 Max comes with ARM v8 octa-core processor and Adreno 505 GPU which gives fluid performance. With 3GB of fast memory built in, ZenFone 3 Max runs every app without slowdown. I have been enjoying games, videos without any lag. The device I was using was having 3GB of RAM inside, but there was no lag while playing heavy games like Nova, Asphalt and many more. Though, the phone got heated up a little while playing the games.
ASUS Zenfone 3 Max Camera Performance
ASUS Zenfone 3 Max boasts good camera performance with 16 MP rear camera having f/2.0, laser autofocus, dual-LED (dual tone) flash. The camera is little bit Laggy, maybe because of ASUS UI. Both Rear and Front camera are amazing and Decent one. Will share a special Review on Camera performance on comparison basis on next blog. The only problem i faced is lag in camera, otherwise camera is amazing as Asus’s each device provide amazing Camera performance.
ASUS Zenfone 3 Max Battery and Connectivity
Zenfone 3 Max is packed with 4100 mAh battery, the phone lasted more than 32 hours with regular use that includes hundreds of calls, browsing for hours and multimedia play out. Besides, the battery of this phone can be used to charge other smartphones as well, just like a power bank.
Zenfone 3 Max is an amazing device, the 3D curved glass and the metallic back finish gives it a very premium look and feel. The screen resolution is HD quality and very sharp. With a massive battery of 4100mAh one can be assured of a great battery backup. The ZenUI is still the same and hardly any changes were seen. Overall this is a great choice to buy.
